MONTAUT is a beautiful little hamlet in South West France. About an hour from Pau. Which is also worth a visit. Jen and Kevin are lovely hosts and helpful in recommending where to go and what to see. They will provide bikes for a serious morning ride or just a little jaunt around town. There are some nice restaurants to visit. Or if you requested a home made meal Jen, Cordon bleu trained in London, will delight you with fresh tasty fare. My husband and I visited the summer of 2022. The pool was very much welcomed. Sitting outside in the garden for dinner was delightful. The place oozes a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend staying with Jen and Kevin

Peaceful Escape in a Charming Village What a wonderful stay! This beautifully restored property in the historic village of Montaut (a few hours south of Bordeaux) is a true gem. The house is full of character, tastefully decorated, and includes grounds with a pool, tennis court, and gardens full of flowers, fruit trees, and friendly chickens. You can tell it has been a labour of love for the owners, who have poured their heart and soul into the restoration project. The hospitality was exceptional — warm, thoughtful, and truly welcoming. We especially loved the fresh eggs from the chickens, served at breakfast, and the great quality local wine. The peaceful atmosphere was a treat for the adults, and the kids made their own fun on the tennis court and by the pool. We enjoyed strolling through the village and admiring the French architecture, and the hosts joined us on a beautiful countryside dog walk nearby. We created some wonderful family memories and were very sad to say goodbye. This is the perfect countryside escape with a touch of rustic luxury. Highly recommended!

Wonderful stay at a beautiful maison de maître My partner, daughter and I had such a lovely time staying at this beautiful maison de maître. The house is full of charm and set in a peaceful, quiet spot — just what we needed to relax. The village of Montaut is picturesque and has everything you might need. We loved spending time by the pool and enjoyed all the great amenities on offer. Everything was super comfortable and really well thought out. Our gite was beautifully furnished and decorated and gave us the feeling that we were in our own home. The hosts were fantastic — so friendly, helpful, and full of great tips about the local area. They made us feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. Would absolutely recommend staying here if you're looking for a relaxing, beautiful place to unwind that is also well suited for families with kids. We absolutely intend to come back again soon!

We had a wonderful time at Jenny and Kevin's delightful home in Montaut, South West France. We love the area - such an idyllic peaceful setting in the countryside with the Pyrenees in view. We went for lovely walks, rides on our bike, visits to local markets and (both food and antique) and the tranquillity was a welcome break for us. Jenny and Kevin have lovingly restored their 1700s mansion and barns and the overall effect is so charming. Every detail from the choice of floor tiles to the shape of the baths have been painstakingly taken into account. The grandeur of the old house shines through and the charm of the restored barns simply beautiful. Jenny and Kevin are wonderful hosts, sharing their love of the region with us and making great suggestions for our stay. I love all things French but had not previously come across this part of France and what struck me most is its unspoilt beauty - you won't find hoards of tourists here! Local restaurants serve wonderful food - and there is a wealth of choice from simple cuisine to more sophisticated dishes for a more discerning palate. Our four days spent in Jenny and Kevin's house were not enough and I can't wait to go back. 5 stars+

We stayed in this 18th C Maison de Maitre in Montaut in Gascony, south west France in 2022 while it was being renovated. The owners have such good taste in décor and the spaces were very thoughtfully being brought back to their full original glory with modcons. The various rooms in adjacent buildings are generous in size, and the extensive gardens and swimming pool a delight to relax in in various spots to get the sun or the shade depending on the weather. The village of Montaut is quiet and beautiful, with many original buildings in good repair and old trees and gardens. Although it didn’t have any cafes of its own, there are delicious places nearby and the landscapes we drove through included gentle green rolling hills. It was so rustic relaxed that we could have stayed forever! Indeed it would be very special to go back and see the outcome of 4 years loving renovation of 3 houses, turning this small estate into luxury comfortable accommodation in a very peaceful part of the world.

Visiting Jenny & Kevin’s amazing property in Montaut was one of my all-time favorite travel experiences. The property itself is breathtakingly beautiful, both inside and out. We loved learning about all of the dedicated restoration work that they have undertaken over the past few years – it is so impressive. Rustic, oozing character and history, the property is laden with French antiques, unique and interesting décor & design elements, colour, charm, scale and history. The gardens are absolutely divine – including the huge garden across the road at the back which included a kitchen garden, chicken coop with feathered friends free-ranging around – along with a few sheep. The hospitality of this couple was outstanding. We stayed in the gîte, with a lovely kitchen, wood fire, separate living and comfortable upstairs, with a view over the orchard. We enjoyed spontaneous cheese platters and glasses of wine, coffee in the mornings and fresh croissants. Jenny was so generous in every way and such a delightful host – responsive and warm yet respectful of space & privacy. There is an abundance of everything with a ‘more is more’ vibe which we love. Pets wandering around the place freely was an additional homely touch. We had some lovely weather when visiting so made use of the swimming pool yet missed out on the charm of lighting up the woodfires. The property lends itself to all kinds of experiences including small events and celebrations. Equally it is a lovely place to take some respite

Over the past few years, Kevin and Jenny have devotedly restored the character, beauty and style of their 200-year-old property which is located in the delightful small village of Montaut, a 10 minute drive from the medieval town of Saint Sever. Your senses immediately come alive as you step inside the front door and experience the richness in colour and design of the ground floor rooms. Open doors at the back reveal climbing roses and offer glimpses of the attractive garden beyond. The central swimming pool is surrounded by original two-level buildings which were once stables and have been beautifully renovated into charming and comfortable guest accommodation. Views of the stunning Pyrenees can be seen from the top window of one of these guest houses. Kevin and Jenny are wonderful hosts. Drinks and conversation are often enjoyed outdoors in the relaxing surroundings of their lovely mediterranean style garden. I have had the great pleasure of visiting them on two occasions. From their property it is a lot of fun exploring the many interesting neighbouring towns and villages. French Basque country is a short distance away. To my amazement historic bullfighting rings are ubiquitous. And their village of Montaut is no exception.
